Located just to the south-east of the existing Čibuk 1 wind farm, Čibuk 2 wind farm is going to be built around 40 kilometres outside Belgrade in the Municipality of Kovin, Vojvodina Province. It lies between the small villages of Bavanište and Mramorak. The village of Dolovo is a few kilometres to the north and Deliblato a few kilometres to the south-east. Construction of the windfarm is expected to begin in the first few months of 2024. The windfarm will begin commercial operation in 2026.
The primary purpose of the Čibuk 2 wind farm is to reduce the national reliance on fossil fuels, in particular national coal resources and the import of natural gas. The Čibuk 2 wind farm will generate about 400,000 MWh of renewable energy each year, enough to power over 62,000 homes.
Čibuk 2 Social Investment Program supports improvement of local infrastructure, and initiatives in the field of culture, education, youth care, environmental protection, promotion of sports and local traditions in the Municipality of Kovin and local communities Bavanište, Mramorak and Dolovo.
